What this is

The Wimberley Watchtower is a situational awareness dashboard built for the Wimberley Valley. It aggregates headlines from local government, regional press, and curated national and international sources into a single, filterable feed in one place.

The goal is simple: know what's happening. Locally, regionally, and in the wider world, with enough signal to stay ahead of it.

How it works

Headlines are pulled from a mix of direct publisher feeds (RSS) and Google News queries across eleven topic tabs. Feeds refresh automatically every 30 minutes while the page is open.

Headlines and advisories come from third-party sources and aggregators and may not be real-time. Filtering is an ongoing effort; we tune each tab to stay relevant, but imperfect matches slip through. We're always dialing it in.

The In the Sky link tracks live air traffic overhead, including aerial firefighting assets during wildfire events. The Radar link opens a live regional weather radar centered on Wimberley. The Traffic link shows current road conditions in the area.

This site was built and is maintained with AI assistance, with extensive input and creative control. The headlines and information on this page come from government agencies, journalists, and established news outlets, not AI.

On sources and bias

We source from outlets across the center of the political spectrum: center, center-left, and center-right. We try to keep the mix balanced. No source is perfectly neutral, and neither is any curation. We're transparent about that and continuously refining it.
